Carla Jutson: Outstanding Advocate for Older Adults

Today, the Area Agency on Aging of Tarrant County is honoring our executive director, Carla Jutson, as the Outstanding Advocate for Older Adults. Carla has devoted her career to the older residents of Tarrant County. She is a strong advocate for older Americans and a leader in finding solutions to help this population remain active and independent in a safe and healthy environment for as long as possible. She truly believes Tarrant County is a caring place to grow old, and her work with the homebound has certainly helped make this so.

As executive director, she has led Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County from a small organization that delivered just 25 meals a day to one of the most recognized programs in the United States. She is active in the aging network at the local, state, and national level.

Carla JutsonCarla is a founding member and past president of the Tarrant Area Gerontological Society, an organization of professionals working in the field of aging. She also is a founding member of the Meals On Wheels Association of Texas (MOWAT), a statewide organization that provides leadership training and support for professionals working with congregate and home-delivered senior nutrition programs. She is also involved with the Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA), for which she is a past president, board member, and committee member. She has testified before Senate and House committees in D.C. and on the state level as an expert in senior nutrition and isolation.

Congratulations to Carla on this wonderful recognition of her work!

Celebrating 39 years of service

Carla Jutson

Carla Jutson, Executive Director

Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County is 39 years old today! What started as a faith-based group of people wanting to feed the inner-city elderly has grown to a program serving almost 1 million meals a year and providing many additional services to those we serve. Volunteers, donors, and Tarrant County residents are the backbone of Meals On Wheels, Inc.  Without their help, none of this would be possible.  Thanks to all for making Tarrant County a caring place to grow old.

– Carla Jutson
